No matter how good your bike is and how well it's looked after, at some point on
the trail we all have mechanical breakdowns. On this course you will learn what
kind of breakdowns you're likely to experience, how to maintain your bike to minimise
the likelihood of a breakdown, what to carry in case of breakdown, and what to do
if a breakdown actually happens. And the best bit? You'll learn all this whilst
out riding on the trails of North Wales.
Some of the things we'll cover include:
- Pre-ride checks and bike preparation.
- Tool kits - what to carry and why.
- Punctures - repair kits and techniques
- Tyre damage.
- Chain breaks - splitting and joining.
- Braking issues - pad replacement and other ways to stop.
- Mech mechanicals - how to cope with derailleur issues.
- Buckles and bends - quick wheel fixes.
- What to do if it all goes pear shaped.
The Trailside Maintenance Course lasts approximately 6 hours and is provided for groups
or on a one-to-one basis. We also run the course as an open
group session - check our events calendar for details of the next one. The course
costs £90 for a one-to-one session, £70 per person for a private group session,
or £50 per person for one of our open sessions. Please
